Gold, silver and bronze at National Foal Championships for Dutch Top Foals
The championships cup, the vicechampionships ribbon and the third prize were all claimed by foals out of the auction collection. With a total of 7 foals that were invited to the KWPN National Foal Championships, all champion or vice-champion of their region, the auction had a strong starting position in Ermelo this year. The result was the full range of medals.
Amongst the elite in the championships finale of the jumping foals was the young Hardwell-son Newsflash (out of Dolaris ster IBOP-spr s.Cantos, bred by: Stal de Roover, Strijbeek). At the Central inspections of Brabant he had to let his stable mate Newroel(Hardwell out of Vinette LVP Z s.Verdi) surpass him, but in Ermelo Newsflash bested him. The jury was particularly impressed with his canter, Bart Henstra: “This foal canters with a lot of power and balance, showing a strong hind leg and ability to collect and extend.” Newsflash was crowned vicechampion, a fantastic accomplishment.
Not long after the jumping foals, the top 12 dressage foals could enter the ring for their final, in which the auction of Dutch Top Foals held two aces. The champion of CK Drenthe Nyandro JZ (s.Geniaal) and the gorgeous Franklin-daughter Nina Ricci. When the jury was down to the last three foals to complete the top three, the suspense could clearly be felt in the arena. The Geniaal-offspring Nyandro JZ (uit Elsarina prok elite EPTM-dres v.Jazz, f: J.Zeewuster te Sleen en Erven J.S. de Jager)
was placed third and praised for his conformation, active walk, elastic trot and uphill posture in his movements. “The best gait has to be the canter, in which this foal displays abundant power and light-footedness,” said the jury. There can only be one winner and it was one foal that stood out above the rest: Nina Ricci (Franklin uit Felice keur IBOP-dres v.Uphill, f: M.R. & A.R. van Norel, Epe). The alluring mare has something elusive about her when she glides through the arena. The jury: “A high-blooded foal with a remarkable long neck and correct and solid foundation. She has three superb gaits, a s good walk, a trot with lots of technique and ability to extend and collect and lots of cadence and a strong hind leg in the canter.”
The filly Novelty (v.Incognito uit Danira D-OC voorl. keur v.De Niro, f:Stal Horsemanship, Oud-Gastel) showed her excellence in both trot and canter and just missed out on a ticket to the championships finale. The appealing mare placed third of her highly-competitive group. The second offspring by Incognito out of the auction collection was the appealing, well-moving New Style (out of Glory to the Creator elite prok EPTM-dres s.Ampère). Also the Glock’s Toto Jr-daughter Nightdream CC (uit Joint Venture D-OC voorl. keur v.Charmeur, f: C.A.J. van Diemen, Heerhugowaard) presented herself well in Ermelo, her movement technique being the highlight.
